Well everyone else jsut shoved their ''I can't access my Maxtor external hard drive'' problem here so I thought I would.
Should I give the Maxtor a try. My intention was to safely give myself more storage. I'm not just storing pic's or movies, I would like to send all documents and program files to the external drive. This is the only place on the web I found that could actually 6,300r0 my problem and help it go away.

The new hard drive casing was what fixed the blinking, no recognizing issue! This is also firewire with pass thru Daisy chain ability. Turn your computer off an back on 6. Good Luck and hope this will help anyone with this same issue, as Maxtor's support department was not.

The data is all there, it was not deleted. The i-rock is a plastic.
I feel like USB 2. Udb have already spoken with Maxtor and they were absolutely of no help First, please forgive my lack of knowledge. Install the hard drive in the new enclousre 4. Sounds to me like Maxtor may have a problem with their transformers.
HELP!!!!!!! Accessing Maxtor External Hard Drive.
Looks like the rapid flashing light error is a problem with the housing itself, as opposed to the drive. I-rocks IDE hard ,axtor enclosure 3. This discussion covered such so there's no need for me to duplicate about calling its maker, data recover houses and more. The drive is under warranty but I'm reluctant to return it with a full backup of my complete system including personal and financial records, passwords, etc.
The above passage is shown with each post you make. I had many irreplacable family photos 5 years worth, which is one of the reasons I bought this drive for in the first place currently stored on this drive.
I have copied the family photos back to the master drive and have just ordered a Seagate drive to replace the Maxtor as a back up drive.

My original drive had firewire. Case solved, it's the transformer between the drive and the wall and not the drive at all. However it does not indicate any new drive represented in the system.
Proffitt Forum moderator November 4, 9: I then installed it as a second slave internal drive. Dell Dimension OS: Four attempts to help but ub effective solution offered - essentially Maxtor was of no help they kept telling us ot turn the dirve on and off etc -- some help 6k300r0 No need to even restrart the computer; once I powered on the new box, the drive sprang to life and XP immediately recognized it.
Mine freaked out after a power surge, resulting in the dual fast blinking lights. The tech asked about the operation of the drive.
